TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE
Ms. Schuster has over 20 years of experience in patient care, both as a practitioner and as a consultant. Her primary areas of concentration include all aspects of inpatient nursing and emergency services. She has specialized in workload measurement and analyses. Her specific areas of specialty include staffing and productivity analysis, hospital-wide patient classification system development and validation, information systems applications, and coding training for emergency physician services.

With AMS, Ms. Schuster has been engaged by clients to perform analyses, assist with implementing recommendations, and to mentor administrators, managers, and staff on various healthcare management and administrative issues. On a part-time and interim basis, she has assisted many clients with developing systems and strategies specific to their needs, to ensure optimal project outcomes.

She also has a solid working knowledge of microcomputers, nursing software, and many of the popular, commercial software products. With AMS she has also been involved with Hospital Information System (HIS) selections and commercial software installations management, development, and education. Before joining AMS, Ms. Schuster was an in-house systems and productivity consultant at a 600-bed county hospital. During that time, she also developed patient classification systems as a nursing administrative consultant to other area hospitals. She has worked as a Nursing Director, Charge Nurse, and Staff Nurse on various medical/surgical/step-down units, intensive care units, and emergency rooms.

Ms. Schuster currently serves as the Senior Vice President responsible for the Nursing Division at AMS, including over-site of the nursing practice operations, benchmarking, informatics, and interim management assignments.
