TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE
Mr. Abrami maintains total responsibility for an operations consulting practice which includes information systems, performance improvement, and FTE benchmarking. In his 31 years with AMS he has participated in and managed projects at over 220 clients in 23 states. He served in positions of staff associate, senior staff associate, manager for the Southeast Massachusetts region, and regional director of both the Northern New England and Atlantic regions, prior to his becoming a partner. 

Project areas include:

  • Information systems needs assessment

  • FTE Benchmarking

  • Computer conversion support

  • Productivity reporting

  • Information systems strategic plans

  • Productivity studies

  • Vendor contract negotiations

  • Patient classification

  • Systems design

  • Materials management

Mr. Abrami has much "grassroots" knowledge of hospital operations at the departmental level, which clients find extremely useful.

Prior to AMS, he served as technical specialist in the Office of the Vice President of Academic Affairs at the University of Buffalo, as well as a part-time instructor in Operations Research in the Department of Industrial Engineering.

PUBLICATIONS AND AFFILIATIONS
Mr. Abrami has participated in and coordinated workshops and seminars in topic areas including: patient classification, budgeting, productivity, cost containment, the impact of DRGs, departmental profiles, information systems, computer conversions, bedside computer technology, staff reduction without layoffs, and the role of the management engineer.

Mr. Abrami’s publications appear in:

He is a contributor to the third edition of Hospital Departmental Profiles, published by AHA.
He is co-editor of Bringing Computers to the Hospital Bedside: Emerging Technology, Springer Publishing.
